They feared Ayatollah Khamenei and thought that assassinating him would solve their problem. But they must understand that a martyred Khamenei is far more dangerous for them. Because after his martyrdom, millions across the world would wake up to the truth of his path. He stayed in his home and workplace until the very end, and was martyred alongside his family. A martyred Khamenei is more threatening to Western powers than a living one, and I believe this was the best scenario for his earthly departure, though for us, it is deeply painful, because we have lost the greatest leader in Iran’s history.
