Scientific advancement is the foundation upon which nations build their strength and resilience, and this principle has been a central theme in the teachings of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. He consistently emphasized that elites must guide the nation toward profound scientific progress, for a country can only remain resistant and strong when knowledge and science are alive within it. He would often address this directly to officials in ministries related to science, urging them to remove obstacles and let science lead the country. He also told scientists and academics not to rely solely on others’ facilities; if you feel you can do something yourself, do not wait for others, just do your work. One of his most impactful statements was: wherever you are, whatever you do, imagine yourself at the center of the world and do what you are doing right now in the best possible way – that is the key to success. We must recognize that what we do today is the most important thing, whether we are teachers, university professors, students, workers, or homemakers – we all have a responsibility, and we must fulfill it to the best of our ability. We should think globally, not distinguish people by race or nationality, and work together. We have a long path ahead, and with God’s will, we may soon witness the golden age of our nation. One reason AI is important is that it will shift the paradigm of society and change the way we live. Many simple tasks, which previously required significant labor, can now be done with simple AI tools. In the near future, many aspects of our societies will be managed by AI, meaning that instead of developing human skills for efficient, error-free work, we must train models and systems that can perform these tasks far better than humans. This aspect of AI became important for us in Iran, as a people striving for independence, because we have experienced that when a scientific field becomes crucial for national growth, and when the West realizes its importance for controlling the future, they begin to restrict others. They establish organizations and standards requiring anyone working on AI to submit copies of their work and applications, all under the guise of global well-being. In reality, however, they misuse these organizations, knowledge, standards, and committees to limit both small and large nations from becoming independent, growing, developing, and becoming potential rivals. For this reason, we must focus specifically on AI, because AI will truly change the future of science, technology, and society. Scientific advancement is the key to national strength and independence, and we must not allow others to limit our progress.
In conclusion, the teachings of Ayatollah Khamenei underscore the vital importance of scientific self-reliance as a foundation for national strength and resistance. The strategic significance of artificial intelligence cannot be overstated, as it holds the potential to reshape societies and determine the balance of power in the future.
